side control jailbreak and armbar
March 9, 2022

3 moves from bottom of traditional side control, i.e. not judo side control

All: Keep outside arm framed across shoulders and neck of top player. Inside arm can frame inside of their arm or in the pit of their hip.

  1. Shrimp away from top player to create as much space as possible. Pull your outside leg across and aim for the pit of their hip. Assist with hip frame hand if needed. Generate torque to pull yourself square and insert butterfly guard hooks while getting a wizzer to set up the butterfly sweep.
  2. Use inside leg to wrap around their back and try to hook their ankle with yours; you may need to toe and heel walk across their calf to get it all the way in. Begin extending their leg similar to lockdown and slide outside leg under inside leg and catch their knee/thigh with other foot. Now fully extend like lockdown, as your inside leg extends pull your outside leg in to get a butterfly hook in place. Generate torque to pull yourself square and insert butterfly guard hooks while getting a wizzer to set up the butterfly sweep.
  3. Guard Recovery with armbar submission option. Setting up this armbar will almost always result in guard recovery. Begin movement like #1. Shrimp to create space, bring inside knee in across their chest. As you bring it up to place between their neck and shoulder, swing your outside leg around their head while keeping their arm trapped between your legs and inserted into your armpit for stability. You must only have their arm between your legs. Do not let them get two arms or an arm and a shoulder or they might stack. On inside leg, army boot your foot and bring it so its jammed up against their outside armpit. Pinch knees tight while keeping their wrist trapped in your armpit or on your chest. Slowly hip up.
